Letter of Intent to Apply

Thank you for your interest in submitting an application to establish a new charter school to the State University of New York Board of Trustees.

For those intending to submit an application on May 3rd, as part of the Summer 2010 application cycle, please submit a Letter of Intent to apply, as described below, by the close of business on Monday, March 29th to help guide the Institute’s planning.

Please use this form to complete your Letter of Intent, which will include the following:

  • A brief (one page) narrative explaining why you wish to start a public charter school, how the school would improve student achievement and learning, and an overview of the academic program; AND
  • A completed (to the extent possible) Application Transmittal Form.

If you previously submitted a letter of intent but did not submit an application, please do submit a new letter of intent for this cycle.

Furthermore, please be aware that the Institute continues to develop its 7th Edition of the Application Kit; however, it will not be complete in time for applicants intending to submit on May 3rd. Instead, May applicants will be required to address a limited number of small changes that will be posted on this website at some point in the middle of March. Please continue to check this website for the list of changes and for any further updates. Thank you for your patience as we work on this new and improved Kit!

It is our intention to publish the 7th Edition of the Application Kit in time for use by applicants in the Winter 2011 cycle!

If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact the Institute by email (address above) or by phone at 518/433-8277.
