The State University of New York Board of Trustees, upon recommendation of its Committee on Charter Schools and the SUNY Charter Schools Institute, voted today to approve eight new charter schools to be located in: Manhattan (3); the Bronx (1); Brooklyn; (2), Queens (1); and upstate, in Troy (1), New York. Each of these schools plans to open in the fall of 2008. The Trustees’ action marks the first approval of new charter schools in the state in nearly two years.
