The SUNY Charter Schools Institute has Closed the Public Comment Period on the: 

          DRAFT Request for Proposals to Establish New York State Charter Schools
                            

                   -  Final RFP will be posted on or before August 2, 2010 -

Per the May 28, 2010 amendments to the Charter Schools Act of 1998, SUNY is required to solicit public comment on a draft Request for Proposals to establish New York State charter schools, respond to comments about the RFP document, and issue the RFP in final on August 1, 2010 (effectively August 2 as the 1st falls on a Sunday).  The RFP is a new methodology for soliciting charter school applications for review.  This process and RFP effectively replaces SUNY's previous New Charter School Application Kit, 6th Edition.

The Institute accepted public comment through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23rd via e-mail to charters@suny.edu and in writing to:  SUNY Charter Schools Institute, 41 State Street, Suite 700, Albany, New York 12207.   The Institute also hosted a meeting via videoconference to solicit verbal testimony on the Draft RFP on July 20th, from 4 - 6 p.m., from locations in Albany, New York City, and Buffalo.
