Description:

ALCS’ mission is to cultivate America’s future leaders. Through a rigorous academic program that emphasizes reading and writing across the curriculum, we provide our students with the critical thinking skills required for academic and professional success.

ALCS offers an extended day (7:45am to 4pm) and year (196 days) program to provide our students with additional opportunities to excel academically. Each day, ALCS devotes four periods to literacy, two periods to mathematics, and one period each to science and social studies instruction to maximize learning in the four major disciplines. Teachers collaborate to create interdisciplinary unit plans that incorporate New York State’s eleven learning standard areas. Character education is central to our program design as we strive to instill academic achievement, leadership and character as the formula for success in our student body.  Each classroom has a head teacher and a cooperating teacher to provide a 12:1 student/teacher ratio and to provide multiple opportunities for small group and individualized instruction. ALCS is committed to data driven instruction as a means to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of our diverse student population. Spanish, art, music and physical education classes are offered to enrich the educational experiences of ALCS students. Technology is embedded throughout the curriculum.

At ALCS, students, teachers, parents and the administration are held to the highest performance standards. Parental and community partnerships are a key component of our school community. At ALCS, our guiding principles are Academic Achievement, Leadership and Character Equals Success.
