Bedford Stuyvesant Collegiate Charter School is the third Collegiate charter school to open in New York City as part of the Uncommon Schools network. It joins Kings Collegiate Charter School, which opened in Fall 2007, and Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School (2005), one of only two NYC charter schools to have every one of its 6th graders score Advanced or Proficient on the 2006-07 state math exam. The Collegiate Schools offer a structured, college preparatory academic environment, a longer school day and longer school year, and they have extremely high expectations for both academics and behavior. The school’s curriculum is based on the New York State standards and includes the core subject areas of English language arts, mathematics, history/social studies and science. |
