| Bronx Prep is a classical college preparatory middle and high school located in District 9 in the South Bronx. The school's mission is to prepare all of its students for acceptance to and success in college. They graduated their first senior class this past June and 100% of the graduates will be attending four-year colleges/universities this fall at places such as Emory University, Hobart and William Smith College, College of the Holy Cross, New York University, Dickinson College, Syracuse University’s architectural program and SUNY-Binghamton. The rigorous academic program operates on an extended-day and extended-year schedule, requiring students to spend 50% more time in school than students attending traditional public schools. Strong academics and college prep are at the core of their mission, but the school also believes that to educate well-rounded students, it must provide a wide variety of opportunities outside of the traditional classroom. Course taking at local colleges and universities, participating in and winning debate and speech competitions, staging full-length Broadway musicals such as Aida, and providing community service are examples of the ways in which all scholars avail themselves of the extensive opportunities to grow at Bronx Prep. Complimenting the core academic and advanced placement program, artistic and extracurricular activities are important features of the school which are implemented through the provision of a daily artistic block and school wide after school enrichment program. |
