Description:

La Cima Elementary Charter School is an independent, public, elementary charter school in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. La Cima opened in August 2008, and currently serves 200 kindergarten, first and second grade scholars. During the 2010-11 school year, we will add three 3rd grade classrooms and will continue to grow by adding one grade annually.

Our mission is to prepare students for academic and life-long success through a rigorous and relevant academic program. Our vision is to develop students who have the intellectual capacity, social capital, and emotional strength of character to be personally successful, and to act as effective change-makers in their communities. Our educational plan strikes a balance between seemingly divergent methodologies: constructivist approaches and standards-based assessment and planning.
