Description:

The mission of St. HOPE Leadership Academy Charter School (SHLACS) is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and habits they need to succeed in a four-year university. Equally important is to instill in our students a commitment to serving others, particularly those in urban communities. In order to accomplish this, all students complete a minimum of 40 hours of community service every year. Additionally, students go on yearly college visits beginning in kindergarten.

SHLACS’s educational program is based on a proven model developed and implemented by St. HOPE in Sacramento, CA. The school features a rigorous, standards-based college preparatory curriculum, intensive interventions for students who are performing below grade level, an extended instructional day and year, a defined character development program, and extensive leadership development and community service opportunities.
