Audited Financial Statements

Public funds must be spent appropriately and with ample transparency. Timely audits are an important part of this transparency. Charter schools are required to have an annual financial statement audit conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and, if applicable, a Federal Single Audit. The Institute uses the results of each audit as part of its overall fiscal oversight of charter schools. In addition to annual audits, the Institute receives annual budgets and quarterly fiscal reports from each SUNY authorized charter school.

Have You Seen SUNY's Fiscal Dashboard?

SUNY's Charter School Fiscal Dashboard takes charter school transparency to a new level. The Dashboard is a simple yet dynamic tool to view financial data and understand the fiscal health of any SUNY authorized charter school in the state that has completed at least one year of operation. 

The Fiscal Dashboard provides:

  1. a five year financial history (or number of years in existence if less than five years) for every SUNY authorized school taken from the yearly audited financial statements;

  2. data and a graphical representation of the fiscal ratio analyses that the Institute uses in determining the fiscal health of a SUNY authorized school; and

  3. a never-before available means to compare like schools.
