APPR Submission Deadline Update

This year, the New York State Education Department (“NYSED”) significantly delayed the release of the aggregated 3rd through 8th grade assessment results in English language arts and mathematics. Each year, SUNY authorized charter schools rely on this public release of data to complete the required Accountability Plan Progress Report (“APPR”), typically due on September 15.  (This year, September 15 falls on a Saturday so the due date was pushed to the following Monday.)  As forecasted in the Institute’s memorandum from June 25, the Institute will push back the due date for the APPR to accommodate the state’s delay in releasing the scores.  The APPR is not due on September 17 as originally planned.  Although NYSED released the embargoed student level data on Monday, August 27 through the state’s L2RPT portal, their memo indicates that the public data release is currently expected in “late September”.  Without a precise date for the NYSED’s release of those data, the Institute cannot yet provide an updated due date for the APPR.  

Once the state announces its public data release date, the Institute will update the due date for the APPR and will notify schools in two ways.  Schools currently enrolled in and interacting with Epicenter will notice an adjusted due date for the task of submitting the APPR there.  The Institute will also transmit a memo indicating the revised date.  As a reminder, the due date for cohort data submissions for SUNY authorized schools enrolling 9th through 12th grades remains September 17, 2018.  For standalone high schools enrolling only students in grades 9 – 12, the deadline to submit the APPR also remains September 17, 2018. Please contact the Institute via email at [email protected], should you have any questions about completing or submitting the APPR.
