2023 – Supplemental Round Cycle

 The SUNY Charter Schools Institute (the “Institute”), on behalf of the State University of New York Board of Trustees (the “SUNY Trustees”), in its capacity as a charter authorizer, has received the following applications in response to the Supplemental cycle of the 2023 SUNY Request for Proposals (“RFP”) by the August 9, 2023, deadline.  A proposed school’s appearance on the list below does not indicate that the Institute has reviewed the proposal in its totality or that the SUNY Trustees have approved or will approve the proposed school.

The SUNY Charter Schools Institute today announced the release of the 2023 RFP Round 2 Supplement. The 2023 RFP states that “SUNY, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to modify the 2023 RFP schedule; hold additional round(s) in the year and/or incorporate any new statutory or regulatory requirements into this RFP.” As a result of additional charters becoming available to grant in the five boroughs of New York City, the Institute will hold an additional application round for groups proposing to open charter schools in New York City. Applicant groups whose applications were approved by the SUNY Board of Trustees Charter Schools Committee pursuant to the 2019 RFP that have not yet received charters are eligible to apply under the 2023 RFP Round 2 Supplement. No other applicant groups shall be eligible to apply in this round.
