2025 Request for Proposals – Outside NYC

The SUNY Charter Schools Institute (the “Institute”), on behalf of the State University of New York Board of Trustees (the “SUNY Trustees”), in its capacity as a charter authorizer, has received the following applications in response to the 2025 SUNY Request for Proposals (“RFP”) by the April 8, 2025, deadline.  A proposed school’s appearance on the list below does not indicate that the Institute has reviewed the proposal in its totality or that the SUNY Trustees have approved or will approve the proposed school.

2025 Request for Proposals – Outside NYC

The SUNY Charter Schools Institute (the “Institute”) announces the release of the 2025 SUNY Request for Proposals (RFP) to open new charter schools in New York State. The Institute anticipates holding one RFP round in 2025 open to applicants proposing to open new charter schools outside of New York City. The deadline to submit final proposals is April 8, 2025.

The New York Charter Schools Act of 1998 (as amended, the “Act”) requires New York’s charter authorizers to solicit applications to establish new charter schools by way of a Request for Proposals process. The statute also mandates that SUNY issue a draft RFP for public comments prior to issuing the RFP. The Institute posted the draft 2025 RFP for public comment on January 30, 2025. No public comments were submitted during the review period. The Institute looks forward to receiving and reviewing new charter applications

The SUNY Charter Schools Institute (the “Institute”), on behalf of the SUNY Board of Trustees, announces the release of the Draft of the 2025 SUNY Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to establish new charter schools in New York State. The Charter Schools Act of 1998 requires New York’s charter authorizers to accept charter school applications by way of a Request for Proposals process. The statute mandates that SUNY issue a draft RFP for public comment prior to issuing the final RFP.

The Institute welcomes your comments and will review and consider all comments in finalizing the RFP.

The Institute will accept comments via email to: [email protected] through 5 P.M. on Monday March 3, 2025.
