The SUNY Charter Schools Institute, on behalf of the SUNY Board of Trustees, is pleased to announce the release of the 2020 SUNY Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to establish new charter schools, and for existing education corporations to operate additional schools. The Charter Schools Act of 1998 (as amended) requires SUNY to accept charter school applications by way of a Request for Proposals process. The statute mandates that SUNY issue a draft RFP for public comment prior to issuing the final RFP.

2020 SUNY Request for Proposals – Round 1 Cycle

The SUNY Charter Schools Institute (the “Institute”) announces the release of the draft of the 2021 SUNY Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to open new charter schools in New York State. The New York Charter Schools Act of 1998 (as amended, the “Act”) requires New York’s charter authorizers to solicit applications to establish new charter schools by way of a Request for Proposals process. The statute also mandates that SUNY issue a draft RFP for public comments prior to issuing the RFP.
