First Notice – The SUNY Trustees, in the capacity as a charter authorizer, have received the following extension application:

Success Academy Charter School – NYC 12 proposed to locate in Community School District 24, seeks a five year extension of its charter to commence August 1, 2024. The charter is currently approved to serve 675 students in grades K-5 and does not propose further growth under the extension application.

The SUNY Trustees, or their designees, the SUNY Charter Schools Committee, anticipate consideration of this application as soon as February 1, 2023.  The Institute would welcome any comments you might wish to provide. University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men

First Notice – The SUNY Trustees have received the following revision request.

University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men, located at 1290 Lake Avenue, Rochester, New York 14613 in the Rochester City School District, is chartered to serve 450 students in grades 7-12 for the 2022-23 school year and is currently under renewal consideration seeking a five year renewal of the charter commencing August 1, 2023 with an expansion to serve 525 students in grades 6-12. The school requests to move from its current location within the Rochester City School District to 3000 East Ridge Road, Irondequoit, New York 14622 in the East Irondequoit Central School District to accommodate the growing program offerings.  The school still prioritizes serving the students of the Rochester City School District.

Merrick Academy – Queens Public Charter School, located at 136-25 218th Street, Queens, New York 11413 in Community School District 29, is chartered to serve 530 students in grades K-5 through the 2024-25 school year, the last year of the current charter term. The charter has requested an expansion to serve 725 students in grades K-6 in the 2024-25 school year.

International Leadership Charter High School

First Notice – The SUNY Trustees have received the following revision request.

International Leadership Charter High School, located at 3030 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York 10463 in Community Schools District 10, is chartered to serve 380 students in grades 9-12 for the 2022-23 school year growing to serve 540 students in grades 6-7 and 9-12 by the 2024-25 school year, the last year of the current charter term.  The charter has requested an enrollment decrease to serve 301 students in grades 9-12 for the 2022-23 school year growing to serve 430 students in grades 6 and 9-12 by the 2024-25 school year.

Second Notice – The SUNY Trustees approved the following renewal application.

New World Preparatory Charter School, located at 130 Merrill Avenue, Staten Island, New York 10314, 355 Morningstar Road, Staten Island, New York 10303, and 285 Clove Road, Staten Island, New York 10310 in Communit School District 31, chartered to serve 794 students in grades K-8 for the 2022-23 school year, the final year of the current charter term, sought a five year renewal of its charter commencing August 1, 2023. According to the renewal application the charter will serve 768 students in grades K-8. The SUNY Trustees: 1) received the renewal application on or about February 15, 2022; and, 2) approved the renewal on October 6, 2022.
