  • Next Generation Charter School, a charter school education corporation authorized by SUNY, authorized to open a new charter school to be located in Community School District (“CSD”) 12 in the 2026-27 school year, seeks to merge with Nuasin Next Generation Charter School, a charter school education corporation authorized by the New York City Department of Education, located at 180 W 165th St., Bronx, NY 10452 in CSD 9, such that when the merger is approved, Next Generation Charter School would be the successor education corporation authorized by SUNY under the name “Next Generation Charter Schools.”

Our World Neighborhood Charter Schools, an education corporation with the authority to operate more than one school, requests the following revision:

  • Our World Neighborhood Charter School 2, located at 135-25 79th Street, Queens, NY 11414 in Community School District 27, is chartered to serve 480 students in grades K-5 for the 2024-25 school year through the 2027-28 school year, the final year of the current charter term.  The school requests an expansion to add a middle school program starting in the 2026-27 school year serving 561 students in grades K-6 and growing to serve 642 students in grades K-7 by the 2027-28 school year, the final year of the current charter term.

  • Elm Community Charter School, located at 79-17 51st Street, Queens, NY 11373 in Community School District 24, is currently chartered to serve 468 students in grades K-5 for the 2024-25 through 2027-28 school years.  The school requests a revision to add a middle school program beginning in the 2026-27 school year serving 728 students in grades K-6 for the 2026-27 school year and growing to serve 840 students in grades K-7 for the 2027-28 school year.

Second Notice – The SUNY Trustees have approved the following revision application.

  • Explore Charter Schools of Brooklyn is an education corporation with the authority to operate more than one charter school, including Explore Enrich Charter School approved to be located in CSD 17 or 18.  Minisink Charter School, originally approved by the SUNY Trustees in March of 2019, was considered to take over authority to operate Explore Enrich Charter School.  As originally approved in 2019, Minisink Charter School will relocate the school to CSD 5.  The school will serve 72 students in grades K-1 for the 2025-26 school year and grow to serve 216 students in grades K-5 by the 2029-30 school year, the final year of the charter term.  Minisink Charter School will partner with New York City Mission Society.  The SUNY Trustees: 1) received the revision application on or about August 5, 2024, and 2) approved the revision on October 9, 2024.
